First Impressions: Jays Tan

So it's no secret that I am a tan JUNKIE.

I follow @JayGShore on Twitter (Jay from the hit MTV show Geordie Shore) and he announced that he had released his very own tanning range. I know the Geordie lads and lasses love a dark glow so I was immediately intrigued.

With the free shipping and free signed photo I was sold, so off I toddled and purchased the DARK Tanning Mousse for women. I think it cost around 19 euro or thereabouts.

It arrived around 7 or 8 working days later (today) and I was SO excited to try it out! It claims to be very dark with no fake tan smell, instead having a crushed coconut aroma. Big claims there!

So here is what arrived:

Nicely packaged bottle of tan and then the lovely signed snap. Thanks Jay! :)

I examined the bottle. Looked familiar. Very very identical to St Moriz' bottle! So I whipped out my St Moriz and put them side-by-side to compare the ingredients. NOT THE SAME, you'll be glad to hear! I would have been disgusted if they had been the same! I opened the lid and took a whiff. Not too bad, not too bad at all, a definite coconut smell, reminds me of holidays! Into the shower I hopped, where I de-fuzzed and scrub-a-dub-dubbed, then rubbed a little moisturiser onto my feet, hands, elbows, and knees when I got out.

Now, says I, let's put this tan's claim to the test! I donned a mitt and smeared the brown substance across my arms, chest, tummy, back and legs. I'm not going to lie, I didn't like the consistency at first. It became very liquidy on contact with my skin and I didn't think it would blend in. However I gave it 3-5 minutes and it did indeed sink into my skin and I could then get dressed. I have to hand it to Jays Tan, the scent is BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely no trace of that horrible curry/biscuit stink you usually get from fake tans. Here are snaps of my legs before and directly after application (cringe for my attire)

So as you can see, a hint of a glow from the get-go. Now here is a snap from nine and a half hours later:

As you can see, the colour is GORGEOUS! I will say the coconut scent does fade throughout the day however the fake tan smell never happens. I am AMAZED and this is the darkest colour I've achieved from just one layer of a fake tan ever. After showering off the guide colour, I am left with a gorgeous rich yet natural looking tan. My skin is also feeling really smooth. It usually doesn't feel this soft when I use a mousse tan!

I can't speak for wear-time just yet but I will post when I have a proper opinion.

Two thumbs up so far!

Brow have you been?

Hi folks!

It is no secret in my real life that I am absolutely obsessed with eyebrows. I hate my own and have total obsessions over other peoples. Case in point: Cara Delevigne. Say n'more.

I've always wanted to test out HD brows or the likes but I've always been scared. Lately I've seen a bit of a craze on Twitter over The Brow Artist (@LornaFarrelly) and when I saw their before and after snaps, I was *SOLD*. (It helped that beaut.ie did a piece on it a couple of days later) I managed to secure an appointment two weeks later and yesterday is when I toddled in.

I decided not to wear any makeup because the rain was absolutely bucketing down and there was quite literally no point. I arrived stupidly early and met with the hairdressers on the ground level who firstly instructed me to put my umbrella into the stand and cast a very brief glance to show me where I needed to go to find the Farrellys. Not the friendliest of ladies, it must be said.

So downstairs to the basement I went, then sat until Liz Farrelly (@LizFarrelly1)  was able to take me. My God. What a lovely lovely girl. Truly professional and an absolute expert, I cannot speak highly enough of Liz. She sat me down and asked me about my brow history, she instructed me exactly what she was going to do and assured me that I would like the end result. Liz informed me that she would first thread my eyebrows, then pluck any strays, then she would tint them to give the illusion of slightly thicker brows.

So she began. This was my first time having my eyebrows professionally done and I will say that I found the threading very stingy. I felt like I wanted to sneeze, but I held it in and it was over within a minute or two. The plucking was fine, and the tinting, totally grand. Liz cleansed the tint off, put the final touches to my brows and then told me to sit up and to check them out. I was SO nervous. What if she butchered them?!

I needn't have fretted. I nearly fell off my seat and into the mirror. I LOVED THEM. I was speechless. I even (embarrassingly) threw my arms around Liz, suffocating her with a bear hug! I was so so happy. I immediately felt less 'nakey-faced' and had more confidence. I know this will make no sense to a boy but some of ye will understand what I mean!

So off I trotted, emailing Aoife IMMEDIATELY (thebrowartist@gmail.com) to make my next appointment. Those girls are booking up FAST!

So this is my before and after, both sans makeup so no judgment please!

So what do you think?

I feel like my eyes look so much more awake with my new brows!
